A Special Constable has been charged with one count of Assault Causing Actual Bodily Harm after he allegedly assaulted a man in Suva last weekend.
The incident allegedly happened at the Totogo Police Station when the man walked in to ask for the contact for a safe haven called Aruka Fiji.
Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu has directed that the officer be relieved of his duties with immediate effect.
Police say the investigation was conducted by the Criminal Investigation Department’s Major Crime Unit upon receipt of the official report.
They say the charge was sanctioned by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The officer has been charged and will appear in the Suva Magistrates Court tomorrow.
